LAPMASTER WOLTERS has invested in the further development of Abrasive Flow Machining (AFM) and Free Form Honing (FFH).
FFH processing uses abrasives uniformly dispersed in a putty-like substance. This abrasive medium has a unique ability to conform to the shape of the hole. The process enables precision polishing, deburring, and edge radius formation, specifically designed for workpieces that require consistent polished surfaces regardless of their shape. The more special the shape of the inner diameter of the workpiece, the easier the AFM processing. Ordinary polishing and deburring machines have very limited processing capabilities when dealing with weird, extremely small holes, cavities, or edges. Thanks to the availability of multiple types of media for this equipment, even holes as small as 0.008’’ (0.203mm) can be processed effectively. The surface roughness of processed workpieces can reach 4μ’’, which mainly depends on the type and size of the abrasives used. Available abrasives include traditional abrasives or superabrasives.
The LAPMASTER WOLTERS AFM is available in 2 models/sizes, 6 different modes/cylinder sizes, and pressure ranges. The equipment features low component costs and cost-effective clamping tools. Another notable feature of the AFM is the quick tool change function and menu-driven programming system. Processing time depends on the hardness of the material and the pre-cutting amount.
The equipment can be applied in multiple industrial fields, such as extrusion, casting, tooling & molding, EDM workshops, screw machine shops, valve manufacturing, gear grinding plants, hydraulic and medical components, automotive, aerospace, etc.
